It's been two years since I've been there so I can't remember specifically which kinds of pancakes I had there (because there were so many I wanted it was hard to make a decision!), but let me tell you, I'll be in Sydney two weeks from now and I will eat pancakes at Pancakes on the Rocks as many times as I can while I'm there! Buttermilk, macadamia, devil's food chocolate, all sorts of pancakes with yummy toppings.    [14 Feb 2003 20:00:29]

POTR - Damn Good!!
I went to POTR in Early December 2002. The Service was great, food was excellent. Unfortunately, their Video Jukebox was broken (very minor, but I love my music). Other than that, superb!    [25 Mar 2003 03:27:33]

Its the BEST
For years it has been one of my fav spots to eat in syd. It is a buzzy cafe feel with great atmosphere, service,food, coffee and esp PANCAKES.    [26 May 2003 05:20:03]

Great food - Poor Hygiene
A great menu that always leaves you satisfied. At all costs however, avoid the bathroom. I don't know if these guys stopped paying their cleaner a few years back of if I've been unlucky but the last 5 times I've been there I've found the bathroom to be the filthiest in Sydney...

In Sydney? Is it 10 at night? Do you want some pancakes? Yea, well I did while vacationing recently downunder. Me and my brother found our way over to The Rocks and of course PANCAKES on THE ROCKS. Don't Eat There
Friends and i went to this restaurant after being told how fantastic and famous the pancakes were by many a restaurant guide, not to mention the brass plaques screwed to the wall of the restaurant stating their brilliance.
There are so many beautiful spots to eat breakfast on the harbour, that are not only visually stunning but have such a fun atmosphere... 'Pancakes on the Rocks' is not one of them!

You are sent down to a dull basement, and handed a menu. It's your basic lunch and breakfast menu, but with a pancake base.

The pancakes themselves were tough, and dry... not fluffy and 'to die for' as promised. Our smoothies took 20mins, and they were almost warm.

At one point some parents allowed their child to run riot round the restaurant and bumped into a waitress, the child was fine, and the waitress could have continued to serve the food she was holding... yet she decided to place the food on the floor... and fuss over the child (who was FINE), whilst some poor souls food got the brunt of a violation of food and health standards!

Overall, this was VERY disappointing! Fair enough, it is a restaurant you could eat at, and have a satisfying fill.... but, they shouldn't advertise it as so 'famous' or as a place of 'excellence', because there are a thousand other nicer places to eat in the great Sydney! Pathetic!
After 20 years of eating at Pancakes I will never eat there again! The service was very bad, the staff were cold and not happy & the worst was the food which was lukewarm at the best (for which I received a refund). I give it 1 out of 10 and will never go back, they should be ashamed of themselves, in a word PATHETIC!    [12 Mar 2007 02:47:55]
