Beware and Be Prepared... Never have I been more insulted in my life. With friends visiting from overseas, I thought this would be the best place to treat them to dinner - until we got there.
If you are considering eating at the Buffet restaurant, be prepared to PAY BEFORE you get your meal.
I should have realised the restaurant would be a fizzer when I got numerous phone calls confirming the time (which was wrong), confirming that I would come into town to pay the deposit (which I wasn't told about), and confirming there was only one booking (something screwy with the computer email system I'm told).
Then we go to all the effort of coming into the city, meeting up with our friends, only to be put on the spot with a ridiculous "please pay before you eat" rule.
As of the time of this writing, the rule is not detailed on their webpage, nor was I informed on any of the numerous phone calls I received.
After weighing up the choices, we left and went to a fantastic Italian restaurant at the Wentworth Hotel. Just goes to show the views weren't the most important part of the evening - we had a fantastic time regardless. [05 Nov 2000 17:22:39]

After SkyTower Auckland...... I was prepared for second rate service and second rate food. On reading Auckland's Metro and being advised that Auckland's Skytower relied only on its views to attract customers I expected, and got the same perception of Sydney's Skytower.
What an insult to the average restaurant goer. One is expected to be in and out of the restaurant in 1 1/2 hours, (you are not advised this on their website from which you can book), and you are expected to line up for 15 minutes past the time of your reservation thereby reducing your eating time.
The expectation that we were to pay in advance, and then pay separately for drinks was a bit too much to take and we were grossly insulted. $46.50 for a potential 3rd rate buffet is a bit over the top.
It took a number of emails and phone calls to get the booking correct. Surely this is not rocket science. We cancelled the booking before we paid in advance. The receptionist was totally 100% disinterested in why we were cancelling. [05 Nov 2000 19:36:08]

Disgusted We booked the $75 per head menu over the internet, 3 course a la carte with coffee & truffles, We were offered a choice of 3 entree's, 3 mains & 3 desserts, not the full menu as promised at the site which we found disgraceful, we were served by a waiter, whom we named "Calamity Jones" after about 2 minutes. He spilt wine all over the table, my side plate and bread roll were drenched, he apparently failed to notice any of it, the food we were offered/served was way below acceptable "take away" standards, and if you didn't like mushrooms too bad because they were in all entree's and 2 of 3 mains, the receptionist blamed Viator (booking agent) for our choice of menu, what a load of rubbish, yet despite extensive searching of the Sydney Tower Restaurant site, i could not find out why we were given the photocopied "VIP" (virtually insignificant people ???) version of the menu, the view is certainly spectacular but the whole restaurant experience was one of absolute disappointment [21 Dec 2003 00:27:39]
Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: nothing we recieved was recommendable
