Description
Built in the mid 1880's and housed in one of Brisbane's most beautiful heritage-listed terrace houses, Joseph Alexanders is a surreal combination of the contemporary and modern, yet mature and olde-world, and is elegant with a youthful urban feel.
The menu showcases contemporary Australian fusion cuisine, with a strong emphasis on seafood whilst focusing on fresh local produce.

Good food, questionable service The food here is fantastic, although the portions are perhaps a little undersized. It seems to be about quality over quantity. The restaurant is beautiful and has a fantastic view.
The service was quite slow, and the staff argued when our table sent a dish back to be fixed as it wasn't cooked correctly.
However the staff in the upstairs bar were excellent. [28 Jul 2003 04:09:01]

Great food, bad attitude Great meal, great location, great wait staff but marred by unhelpful, borderline rude front of house. Enjoyed a delicious tasting plate entree featuring fantastic tempura scallops which was ideal to share at lunch. Herb crusted lamb rack served with sweet potato mash was magnificent. Another shared tasting plate for dessert was also very good.
Waiters were attentive, but not invasive, friendly and helpful. Hostess was disdainful, which set a disappointing tone for lunch although the worst service was yet to come. When I discovered my credit card had been double charged 2 weeks after the event, the manager was rude, unhelpful and treated me as though I was to blame although it was his staff who had charged my card twice in error. As one of the cards from our table had not been charged and mine had been twice, I was told that they would not refund the second charge (despite the signatory on the second receipt being from the another member of the party who thought it was her credit card) and that it was my responsibility to recover the money from that person!!! Not exactly hospitable - enjoy the food and the ambience, but check your credit card receipt very carefully!! [29 Apr 2004 08:25:53]

enjoyed On holiday visiting my mother who lives in brisbane, i was impressed with the excellent food and service that we recieved. I live and work in london (i work on Park Lane) i was prepared to be disappointed with anything Brisbane has to offer. Joesph Alexanders has made me eat my words that my old home town is a bit of a back water [19 Sep 2004 08:26:54]
