A party away from home Local seasonal produce and wood-oven pizzas are served in this unusual restaurant. Huge trestle tables in the outdoor shed comfortably house large groups, while the cosy cottage caters to smaller parties. Both the staff and atmosphere seem conducive to fun, with patient smiles amidst reliable rowdiness and a place for crayon 'graffiti' on the walls. This easy-going attitude extends to the crockery - paper napkins only - and to the music selection and coffee pot, which are both help yourself. Russell's pizzas are famous throughout Adelaide - their toppings drip with fine regional ingredients which are wisely combined on the chewy, wood-oven bases. The restaurant's BYO policy means free choice of the region's premium wines - just be sure to bring enough to get you dancing between the tables. The desserts are said to be sensational, plump with local fruits and passion. If you are looking for the kind of place where friends and family serve, cook and wash up in the visible kitchen; where the garden is equipped with warming braziers and outdoor fire pits for chatting and munching around; and where you can get a fantastic pizza for not too much dough (excuse!), then Russell's your man [09 Jan 2001 02:44:20]

We're still recovering... Russell, Fi, Kate & Co. My thanks for a great night...we partied like we used to in days gone by, my friends are still phoning singing praises of your food and venue -and we feel as though we have had a holiday. Our friends are raving about the chicken, yoghurt, lime tomato type pizza...I missed a sample too busy playing hostess...would you give out a recipe for this one? Thanking you in anticipation, Jan Magill [26 Feb 2002 07:13:28]

Different...yes. Unique...absolutely!!! Russell’s is a place I will never forget and Russell himself a teacher, mentor, philosopher and master of his craft, who I was lucky enough to cross paths with for two years of my life. For me it was much more than a first job – more of a wonderful and unique learning experience! The food is real, local and delicious and the place has something … ambience definitely…spirit perhaps too! I take my hat off to Russell for being a patron of the local community in many different ways. If you have the chance to go to Russell’s restaurant in Willunga S.A – then GO! Waxing lyrical is all fine and dandy … but Russell’s is a place that has to be experienced to be truly understood. [12 Sep 2005 08:42:59]

Best pizza ever Russell's makes the best pizza's ever they make the only pizza I like. My sisters and friends work there and I have also worked there two times and it was good. Everyone likes a refreshing pizza every once and a while. [10 Oct 2005 20:55:51]
