Shameful situations, manageress does not stick to agreements, bad food [Beschamende situaties, bazin houd zich niet aan afspraken, slecht eten] What a bummer! Too expensive, no service, food that you regret the next day.
We tried to celebrate my father's 65th birthday yesterday evening ... Well : not!
My mother had agreed already on April 15 that we would be 12 persons, of which 10 adults. Getting an agreement over what to eat what quite a laboursome job... The lady *had* to go to the supplier. Without any warning up front.
Yesterday evening the chef couldn't be bothered ____ the lamb chops; when my mother said that we wanted to have tagliatelle then teh "manageress" asked if the others at the table agreed with that ... The guts!
We wanted to eat quickly. That was known up front, my father has just been seriously ill and cannot sit a the table for hours. The kitchen managed to take 1 hour and 20 minutes to prepare tagliatelle with king prawns. Congratulations for that!
And then they had the guts to present us the complete bill for over 500 EUR.
My advice: ppick a nice restaurant with a lesser known chef who does his job appropriately. And a manager/owner that sticks to what is agreed upon.

We probeerden gisteravond de 65ste verjaardag van mijn vader te vieren.. Nou niet dus..
Mijn moeder had al op 15 april afgesproken dat we met 12 personen zouden komen 10 volwassenen. Een afspraak maken over wat te eten was een hele opgaaf.. Mevrouw *moest*naar de leverancier. Zonder enige verwittiging vooraf.
Gisteravond bleek de kok te beroerd om de lamsboutjes schoon te maken, toen mijn moeder vertelde dat we dan tagliatelle wilde eten vroeg de "bazin" of de rest van de tafel het daar mee eens was.. Het lef!
we wilde snel eten! dat was bekend, mijn vader is juist ernstig ziek geweest en kan niet uren aan tafel zitten.. Het is de keuken gelukt om 1 uur en 20 minuten te doen over het maken van tagliatelle met scampi´s! Proficiat!
En dan nog het het lef hebben om de volledige rekening te presenteren van meer dan 500 euro!
Mijn advies: kies een leuk restaurant met een minder befaamde kok, die wel zijn werk doet! En een gérante/eigenaar die zijn/haar afspraken wel nakomt!] [25 Apr 2005 03:23:36]

Very disappointing We had made a reservation two days before, but on arrival they didn't seem to know about it. Asked for non-smoking, and were rather abruptly pointed towards a table which had an ashtray and cigarette burns on one place mat.
Service was poor, apart from the young man who took our coats. We waited almost an hour and a half and our starters had still not arrived - no excuse for taking so long, as one was the menu of the day and there were only four of us! When we asked what was happening with regard to our order, we had no proper answer and were not treated with courtesy, also the bottle of wine we had ordered did not arrive. The restaurant was less than half full, so being busy should not be an excuse.
Very disappointing, especially as we had arrived with two guests on a short visit from the US who we had been hoping to treat to a nice 'local' meal out. We were embarassed that this had to be their only experience of dining out in the evening in Belgium, a country in which dining out is usually a very good experience. Never again!
