Aromas to stop a Cyclist
While we returned from a bike ride to Damme, the aromas wafting from 't Apertje were enough to cause us to forgo our plans to dine in the city of Brugge, and stop immediately for dinner. We were not disappointed. We started with Leffe Blond on tap which was served with fine pistachio nuts and sausage slices. I had the special; fried Dover Sole which was unquestionably one of the top five fish dishes I've had, comparable to some of the dishes at Hyman's Seafood in Charleston, SC, USA. It was served with simple frites without any sauce which frankly was not needed. My partner had excellent rib-eye steak, ordered medium, but somewhat expectedly, served medium rare. Although we thought both dishes come with salad and frites, only one plate of each was served. The service was okay, but friendly enough to tourists from the USA.    [28 Aug 2003 13:12:25]
