Do't Go Here
The only reason I say "don't go here" is because the next time my wife and I visit we want it to be just as empty and beautiful as our last visit.
We were staying on Tortola and took a day trip to Anegada. Our cab driver from the airport to Loblolly Bay (Tony) knew exactly where to take us. He let us know that you could order lunch/dinner at the Bamboo for whatever time you wanted, go to the beach, and come back for it later. He also agreed to pick us up at the Boo and get us back in time for our return flight to Tortola.
After spending a few hours on miles of EMPTY beach (we saw a total of 7 people) we decided to get out of the sun. We went to the bar where our new friend (Sylvester) treated us to great drinks and fun conversation.
A few drinks later we had one of the best meals either one of ever had. Everything was delicious.
The long and short of it - the food is great, the people are great, the water is warm, and the beaches are empty. I hope that they don't start building resorts on this island because it is exactly what people dream about when they think of a Carib. vacation. Empty, white sand beaches (miles of them), tiki huts, kind native islanders, etc.    [19 Apr 2003 14:43:21]

The Big Bamboozal
This place had the best conch I've ever tasted, excellent BBQ ribs, a cool little beach bar, and unique, fun decorations. It is so close to the ocean that you actually go out snorkeling or whatever and tell them what time you will be back and they will have your food ready for you when you return. If you don't feel like snorkeling or just sitting in the sun, there is a volleyball court a few yards away from the restaurant. When you come in from the hot sun, you can cool off with some of the cold ice creams they serve.
When we first arrived at The Big Bamboo, we were the only people there, but as the day went on, more and more poeple started to show up, so I would recommend ordering as soon as you get there. Even if it doesn't seem full at first, later you may wish you had placed your order at the start.
This was a great little beach restaurant/bar and if ever we do return to the BVI's - which I'm sure we will - we'll be certain to visit The Big Bamboo.    [17 Jul 2003 22:09:41]
