What a Place I was there last year and stayed two days. Great place, tranquil, easy going and great food. Sorry, but I had been on a diet for a while and all I remember was the great french fries! [18 Jul 2002 17:11:14]

Food so Good, Friendly People My husband and I visited the BVI for our honeymoon. This bay and restaurant was one of my favorite places. The atmosphere, food, and people were fabulous! My husband has visited the BVI for many years with family and friends and has always told me about the great conch fitters at de Loose Mongoose. This year he is raving over the lobster as well! Cut-Away's Kid My favrorite place in the BVI's! You Have to eat the crab cakes and you must drink a No-See-Um! My parents also love everything about T-Bay. My Dad and I spent a day diving for conch and another exploring the beach for washed up junk, it was great. Thanks for the memories, love you guys and gals. [10 Sep 2003 08:12:45]

Serendipity Trish - a local character who ruined our evening Its a very nice place, very laid back. We went twice. Once for lunch and the second time in the evening which was terrible. They were busy and had one rude waitress who cussed our whole table out for asking if someone could take our order (we had been sitting there for half an hour). Then, seeing our discomforture at the rudeness of this waitress an odd woman, Trish of the boat Serendipity made it her business to tell us how to behave in the BVI. She lectured us on manners, where we could put our boat, our car, our garbage and really and truly ruined our evening. Nothing we could say could get her to leave us or change the topic. I asked who she was and one of the locals told us she was a fixture at the Loose Mongoose and this is how she carried on with everyone she didn't approve of.
We were lucky that we had been for lunch earlier that day and had had such a good feeling about the place we decided to return for the evening. [24 Jun 2004 21:08:19]

Perfect Island Eatery Seven men sailing the Carbbean and found this great spot for a nice evening dinner (since we don't cook well ourselves). Really enjoyed it and make sure you get a hug from Rosie! Highly recommended. [21 Jun 2005 11:33:00]

Outstanding service I stayed overnight after a sailing vacation. I had a flight at seven the next morning. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food. I was greeted in a very friendly, laid back, welcoming way. Had I eaten, did I need a drink, would I like to see my room? I was tired and took a drink to my room and was provided with an alarm clock pre set by my hosts. The room was large, clean and comfortable. Stocked with books I didn't have time to read. Worn but in a comfortable way. Bathroom was basic but functional. The alarm clock went off at 5:15 am - I hit what I thought was a snooze button but probably turned it off. I awoke again at 6:00 with the owner/manager knocking at my door confirmimng that I was on the early flight and telling me I needed to move ifr I was. I dressed in record time and Mike, - I think that was his name -ran my VISA, pitched my stuff into his pickup and drove me to the airport in time for my flight. Next time I'd like to take some time to smell the roses and take in some of the obvious character of the place [21 Jan 2006 14:22:05]

Verbal shenanigans by the cook, and no food Last time I went to the Loose Mongoose there was a huge fight between a customer and two of the staff who were being very racist. The owner was trying to cool the situation but was just insulted by his own staff in a very expletive-deleted manner. The food never came. I have been there many times and although I've never thought it was above average I did enjoy it. I will never ever go there again though, not knowing what the cook and her assistant think of non-Caribbean folk. [11 Jun 2006 23:11:41]
