Big Disappointment I had been to The Last Resort in 1985 and recalled having a great experience. I just returned from the BVI and, based on my previous experience 20 years ago and the reviews on this site, recommended it to my group of 12 people for our last night. Don't know what happened but the show was a major disappointment. There was no donkey, so singing chef, no rope pull, only a couple of musicians who were ok, and then Tony Snell telling really old jokes that simply weren't funny. There was a howling dog at one point but it was a lot more obnoxious than entertaining. My entire group was ready to leave half way through the show although we did stick it out. Fortunately the food was very good or my group would really have been upset. Based on my experience, I could not recommend the Last Resort for entertainment. [03 Feb 2005 13:57:25]

Best dinner in the BVI's Don't get me wrong, our charter chef made some of the most memorable meals of my lifetime, but the overall experience of The Last Resort is what makes it! The food, the service, the donkey, the dogs (the dogs smell, but that's part of the charm). It's a fantastic night out! [03 Jun 2005 14:30:27]

Take Me Back to The Last Resort My hubby of 33 yrs and I just went to the Last Resort in May of 2006. There were no singing dogs, just naked toddlers, a donkey named Mary, a wonderful bartender from Argentina who made excellent Island Mooses. The band was an absolute hoot. The food was unbelievable--- escargot, prawns, pepper-crusted pork chops, sea scallops, and death-by-chocolate mousse. God willing, we will go back. This was one of the highlights of our first excursion into the BVI. [20 Jul 2006 01:00:07]

I've spent some of my best Caribbean moments at the Last Resort.
Don't expect you're dining at the Ritz, this is the Caribbean, mon! The cutlery doesn't match, there are no flowery arrangements. The place is Caribbean dining at its best. It's dig in and enjoy, the beer is cold, and the service is better than most island bars.
When the dinner service is over, and the chef takes over the stage, what a fantastic evening!
Cats and dogs run around everywhere and there is a new donkey! The donkey is very sweet, and will come visit you at the table if you're sitting outside. Just as nice as the old one who comitted suicide by trying to escape the island. [01 Sep 2006 04:09:05]

Best BVIgreat night out - by a local The last resort is so much fun! The setting is just great, atmosphere brilliant, food fabulous, staff the best, and then the chef and his hilarious band (plus house dogs) entertain until the small hours. No doubt the best place for a great Caribbean night. [01 Apr 2007 16:22:07]

The Last Resort is certainly not that! Al used to be the chef and now devotes full time to the entertainment with his eclectic band (Troy, Dave, Nicole). The food has not suffered, the menu seems to constantly change, and the selections are excellent (we share each other's meals to get the full experience. Winning the tequila during the band's games isn't bad either. We will miss Vanila, but still 'The liver is evil and must be punished'. [11 Apr 2007 18:27:48]

WORST NIGHT BUT BEST FOOD IN WHOLE HOLIDAY I was expecting a great evening at the Last Resort but was so disappointed. Our table was booked for 9 pm, late enough, but we did not eat until 10:30. We were by then fed up with waiting, they were clearly overbooked and understaffed. The entertainment was rubbish, so loud you could not communicate with the person next to you. The guitarists were self indulgent, just because they had expensive equipment they didn't need to use all the buttons at once. The food was good but we couldn't wait to leave. [11 Nov 2007 17:26:05]
