Top: British Virgin Islands:
Virgin Gorda - South
Description
"Food at the cafe is simple and delicious. Lunch and dinner features grilled selections, sandwiches and salads. A live band plays on "Ladies' Night" every Friday. The bar itself is a loose interpretation of a mineshaft and from the centre hangs a makeshift pulley and bucket filled with ingredients of the restaurant's special drink - the "cave-in.
"Whether you sit at the bar or on the patio, the Mineshaft offers a splendid view of some of the sister islands including Fallen Jerusalem, Ginger Island and in the distance, Beef Island and Tortola." --by Averil Henry

Best Views on the Island! (1/03) WOW, WHAT A VIEW! The best views on the island. Good chicken roti, too. Yum! Pleasant staff. Compared to other restaurants on V.G., the prices were relatively reasonable, which was nice. We had a pleasant walk down to the Copperpoint Mine after our lunch there. [02 Feb 2003 01:24:02]

It's worth going there just for the wings!!! Stopped at Mine Shaft for Dinner and had wings (hot) as appetizer. The next day I went back for lunch with 5 others and we all just ate wings and drank 'Cave Ins'. Best wings I have had in about 20 years all over the world. Tried to get the recipe but chef wouldn't budge. Everything else was great and view is fantastic. EAT THERE AT LEAST ONCE IN YOUR LIFE. [21 May 2005 21:09:47]

Mineshaft is the place to be. The best view of a Virgin Island sunset. Friendly staff and wonderful atmosphere. The mahi-mahi is not to be missed! [11 Mar 2006 18:26:30]

It's Virgin Gorda's Caribbean Go where everyone knows your name! On my second visit (because the food and staff were so great the first time!) I was not only recognized, but called by my name and asked if I would like to start off my meal with an Absolut and soda, TWO limes...my drink of choice for over 40 years! In my one month vacation in VG, definitely the place that stood out in terms of personal touch and not a bad meal to be had! It's the number one restaurant to go back to over and over again--and always as good as the first time. [17 Sep 2007 17:10:46]
