Long Truck, Long Wait While making a trip for a lunch, I opted for a couple of A & W teen burgers and poutine in the closest A & W restaurant I could find.
This location, 9104 Macleod Trail South, Calgary, Alberta. Usually has fair service. Well, I was following a car through the drive through. He placed his order and proceeded to round the corner to pay for and receive his meal, I pulled up to the menu, and was greeted w/what I think was "hold" by the server. No problem. It's lunchtime and I figure its likely pretty busy inside as well as in the drive through. Well after sitting in the sun watching the minutes pass by on my clock, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7, (Called directory assistance from cell and got the phone # for restaurant) 8, (Placed call from cell to "remind" them of their drive through window, never got through) 9, Nearly 10 minutes before someone must have noticed the line up of cars wrapping around the building or the customers backing out of the line behind me/walking up to MY window asking me what's going on. Now I KNOW for certain that if a customer is made to wait for more than 3 minutes in a McDonalds for example they are compensated w/@ least a sandwich and very apologetic staff w/out even asking.
I had to ask the drive through attendant about A & W's policies on drive through waits etc., and was THEN told "Very sorry, But if you don't pull up far enough we can't tell you’re there" I was driving a '98 Dodge 2500 AND I was greeted when I 1st pulled up to the menu (remember).
The thing I am peeved about is first having to wait for such a long time to even place my order and second having to ask about wait time policies before an apology was even offered. Third I could have used something cold to drink w/my meal, Correct me if I’m wrong but if you place ANY orders in a drive through and don't order a drink isn't it normal procedure to ASK the client if they'd like something to drink w/that?
