I went with my husband and 2 children on a Sunday afternoon. The service was terrible (slow, wrong orders, service was very short, to the point of being rude), the food was very bland and overpriced, and the area that we sat in (near the front) was very dirty.
We will never return to this restaurant! [28 Aug 2003 16:00:07]

Not Bad, Would Return Went with my wife and 2 kids on a Monday in the early afternoon. I had a "late breakfast" (eggs Benny) while my wife ordered a breaded chicken with curry. The kids weren't really hungry and just nibbled from our meals. I liked my choice but my wife didn't care too much for the curry itself. We both thought the service was prompt and friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant was satisfactory, for a family restaurant. [26 Nov 2003 17:28:30]

Gone to the Dogs The Doghouse is a Duncan institution but since it renovated a few years back it has gone to the dogs. The prices are absolutely ridiculous. I took my wife to breakfast a few weeks ago and it cost $16 for bacon, eggs and coffee. There is nothing fancy about this place, very basic "home cooking" style menus. Definitely nothing to justify the high prices. [19 Feb 2004 11:52:00]

Enjoyed the Dog House We had breakfast twice at the Dog House while in Canada and ejoyed the meals. I'm looking forward to going back. I don't recall the prices being high. [10 May 2004 03:45:21]

I think the food and service is pretty fabulous. The place has a great history, and I don't know why the previous reviews are so shallow -- what exactly do you expect from a family restaurant? The prices meet the same standards as any other restaurant. It isn't a 4**** fine dining establishment, you know. If you want prompt service and cheap prices you should try the local McDonald's drive-through. Your children can even get a free toy, if you're that cheap. [31 Aug 2004 23:03:27]

We Loved it, Would Go Again We were visiting this past summer from California and stopped in for breakfast. It was the "home cooking" sign that drew us in and we weren't disappointed. The service was prompt, the place neat and tidy (especially the washrooms) and the food was good. Prices weren't so bad, either. Will stop in again if we are ever back in the area. Very good food, service, clean and tidy. Prices are fine. Isn't your wife worth 16 dollars? [22 Feb 2005 16:24:49]

The Best (Duncan Girl) All the negative reviews I read are lame. People are never happy. I'd do anything to eat curry chicken. It's been favourite single the younger years. It's ultimately the best dish around. Can't wait till the next time I'm in Duncan definately will get a order of the curry chicken! NEVER COME ACROSS THIS DISH IN THE LOWER MAINLAND. Great for seniors This is our parents favourite eating-out spot in Duncan. They appreciate the service and consistently good food. We love it when they take us there when we visit. Wish the restaurant could contact us so we could get a gift certificate as a christmas gift. [06 Nov 2005 16:57:45]

March 11/06 Went for lunch with a youth. The food was good, the service was prompt and pleasant. The restaurant was clean, as were the bathrooms. The prices were within the range of any family restaurant. My ratings are for the family restaurant category if I were rating a family restaurant against a fine dining establishment it would look different(and be unfair). [15 Mar 2006 12:26:47]
