Pretty Good Start
We went to Winnie's on Top very soon after they opened. The setting was very appealing; it was good to find such a nicely executed room in what is obviously a heritage hotel. The decor was perhaps a little more traditional than we preferred, but we could see a lot of attention to detail.

There were definitely some starting glitches and bumps: quite a few items on the menu were not available that evening, including what we were looking for: Borscht! The waitress had to go to the kitchen to find the answer to just about every question we had regarding the menu.

Our expectations were somewhat lowered by these first impressions, but the appetizers that followed were very tasty, and the service was competent. Unfortunately, we were under time pressure that evening and after the kitchen took quite a bit longer than expected to prepare the main course, we had to leave without tasting it. We apologized to the waitress about this, and, although she was disappointed, she understood.
