I have been a prominent resident of the City of Nanaimo for over 15 years. I have patronized many Nanaimo businesses over the years.

I had a horrible experience with a fast food restaurant in Nanaimo that I feel is important enough to share.

The restaurant is Chico’s Fried Chicken & Pizza at 2C 2220 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC.

At one time I was a regular customer there and often recommended to my co-workers and friends how good the food was. One time, about two years ago, I ate there and I found that the chicken was underdone so I asked the owner the next time I went whether they could cook the chicken a little extra. The chicken this time was badly undercooked and so I returned to complain. The owner told me that the chicken is cooked one way and I was no longer welcome to patronize her business. At the time I was shocked and disappointed by her attitude, but I eventually got over it, figuring that maybe she’d had a bad day.

Well, two years later I figured that it wouldn't hurt to try again, so I returned on Friday October 22, 2004. Immediately after placing my order to the clerk, she noticed me and looked over the counter at me. She snarled that she would not serve me.

I left the establishement so angry and disgusted that someone in a Nanaimo service industry - especially an owner - would treat someone like that I decided that word would have to get out.

When a customer complains, particularly about a health-related item like undercooked chicken, you would think that a business owner would ensure that that complaint is dealt with in a respectful manner. Not so here. I was treated like a second class citizen. No, even second class citizens get treated better than that. This was an experience that I will not soon forget.    [23 Oct 2004 14:49:02]

Great Food; Fast Service
This place is fast and friendly, the food is all wonderful. It is a simple take-out style place, but their food is very popular with my whole family.    [30 Oct 2004 16:25:09]

Delivery from hell
Just a quick note to those who might appreciate customer service. Or just common decency from a place you have been a good customer of, and a good tipper to boot, instead of lying about your delivery service. deliver at the time you. The man had the gall to sweat me over the delivery. Like I'm an annoyance. If you can't deliver at times you advertise....don't deliver at all.
Beware anyone dealing with these people

Over priced and unrelieable
There food is good, but I found a lot of the time they are closed early. Also a bit expensive for anyone who is not filled with 2 little chicken legs.    [12 Aug 2007 21:37:27]
