Very Friendly People
Great hospitality. We enjoy the red wine. It was nice to meet Melanie. We will be there again on the week-end of August 24 and 25.    [29 Jul 2002 14:36:53]

Very Disappointed
We went to the Chinese Laundry expecting good food but we were disappointed with one of the dishes. We tasted mold in the tomato beef dish. We mentioned this to the owner who did not believe us and charged us full price for food that we left behind. I would not recommend to anyone.    [23 Jan 2003 22:22:16]

Avoid the Ginger Squid
We've been customers of the Chinese Laundry from its very beginnings. The specialty -- Szechuan -- dishes were always dependable and delicious way back when. Those days seem to be over, unfortunately.

Last time we ordered takeout from Frank's one dish was a fairly average quality Chicken Chow Mein, while the other was the Ginger Squid. Recently the ginger dishes (Beef, Chicken, Squid and Prawn) have been hit and miss, sometimes succulent and spicy, other times overdone and dried out. I was still willing to chance it, but I paid the price. The squid was of a consistency that reminded me more of industrial-grade gasket material than actual food. The breading was thick and bland, and the sauce syrupy and uninspired.

To the restaurant's credit, they refunded what I paid for the dish without question, and the waitress said that the chef would be quite concerned about substandard food going out of the kitchen. However, I'm not inclined to try them again.    [24 Jan 2003 19:08:17]

Let's be Frank - Don't Eat Here!
We just got back from Peachland and on our friends' last night there we decided to go out for dinner. What a mistake going to Frank's. The chicken chow mein had some sort of sliced chicken cold cuts on top and was terrible - we ordered Combo #5 - everything was terrible. The only good thing was that our 6 year old son enjoyed his won ton soup and didn't get sick; [...] thank goodness my son only ate the won top soup and rice.

No imagination in the food or beer. When asked to "surprise me" the waitress brought Budweiser and Molson...how about something native to the Okanagan or something different? The waitress also had her thumbs "on" our plates, which is a health no-no. Plates should be help with your thumb on the side, not on top or inside the bowls. (Can you say Staphylococcus aureus?)

I would recommend people avoid this restaurant, which serves a low grade strip mall type Canadian Chinese food. Do not eat here -- this was the worst $100 we ever spent and the worst 2 days of suffering.    [05 Aug 2003 12:32:37]

Avoid this one....
What was once a great Okanagan Restaurant has gone downhill ever since. Poor food, poor service, will not return. Great view and location though.    [19 Aug 2004 22:33:37]

Better Than the Reviews Show
My wife and I have been eating at Frank's for years, and I have to say that for the most part the food is excellent.

We have had two occasions (in dozens of visits) where the food didn't measure up to its usual standards, but this hasn't happened in a couple of years. We had three visits in 2006 and on all three occasions the servers were friendly and we had great dining experiences.    [13 Apr 2007 21:43:31]
