Nice Special
Had a pleasant evening sitting in the gazebo sipping on their house brand beer (which is nothing to write home about, but okay).

The evening's special looked appealing, so I ordered it: chicken strips with a chanterelle sauce and potato nests (finely grated, fried spuds). Maybe I didn't read the blackboard completely, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was served with a tomato / basil / balsamic vinegar salad that was just delicious.

Only two somewhat off-putting things about the evening:
- I ordered the meal specifically without MSG, and I'm sure that I still tasted lots in the chanterelle sauce -- which took away from the quality of the food for me.
- Toward the end of the meal our table was inundated by cigarette smoke (to which I'm very sensitive). I was under the impression that the gazebo was a non-smoking section, being semi-enclosed, but I could be wrong about that. I didn't want to cause any fuss, so I left.    [25 Sep 2002 23:45:10]

Frequent Diner
As a 'regular' customer at the Gasthaus I am sure that the negative experiences people have had are a rare occurence. I know the owners and they are constantly on the premises trying to put out the best product possible.

As anyone can imagine they must be 10 times busier in the summer then the winter so I'm sure with that amount of people being served there is going to be the odd slip up. But all in all the atmosphere is incomparable, the food is delicious and service is friendly.    [25 Jan 2003 06:15:50]

Frequent Diner, We Send All Our B&B Guests
As regular customers and also as B&B owners in Peachland who constantly send our guests to the Gasthaus, I was quite surprised to see anything less than great reviews.

We have never had anything less than perfection! The meals and service have always been first class. The portions are fabulous and not one of our guests in 3 1/2 years have given us any negative feedback. Most eat there most nights that they are in town and always rave about it.

The hands-on management is great and I think they bend over backwards to please their customers.

The ambiance is second to none and I think we are truly lucky to have this establishment in Peachland!    [03 Feb 2003 17:56:17]

While on vacation two years ago we came upon the Gasthaus on the Lake quite by accident. Since we love German food we decided to give it a try (it was also our 22nd anniversary). The food was excellent! Even our two children (teenagers) raved about it, saying the food reminded them of their Oma and Opa (Opa is a chef). Resident Food Lover not Impressed
As a resident of Peachland and a lover of good food, I have eaten there once, as the food is good, but I left still wanting more. I was not satisfied with the portions considering the price. I will not go back since there are many other places in Peachland with a great view; lots of food at a normal price where I leave satisfied and not still hungry.    [24 May 2003 00:27:41]

Excellent
My fiancee, his family and I make it an annual tradition to visit the Gasthaus. Every time we have been there, the food and service have been excellent.

I'm sure that any variances in this is a deviation from the norm and probably occurred during the busiest times (i.e. summertime around 6-7pm). We have never had problems with reservations and anything we have requested to be eliminated from our meals has been done so. Perhaps some visitors can't enjoy the treat that a visit to the Gasthaus is and are looking for any way to make it less enjoyable.    [06 Jun 2003 19:33:38]

Super Gasthaus
This summer we were in Peachland at the Gasthaus on the Lake. This is the best restaurant one can find in this area. The often German-speaking serving staff is very friendly. The design and general ambiance are lovingly executed; the atmosphere is very fitting. The food is wonderful and reasonably priced.

We love this restaurant and will surely be back sometime. Thanks again for the unforgettable hours.

Wir waren in diesem Sommer in Peachland im Gasthaus on the Lake. Das ist das beste Restaurant das man in der Umgebung finden kann. Sehr nette und auch deutschsprachige Bedienung. Die Einrichtung ist liebevoll gestaltet und bis ins Detail geschickt in Szene gesetzt. Die Atmosphäre ist genial und das Essen spitze und zu einen günstigen Preis zu haben. Hello!
I am coming to the Gasthaus tonight with my family and visiting relative from Germany. So, I thought I would take the time to give my opinion. Being of German heritage we often dine at your restaraunt when my Oma and Opa visit as well. I love the German atmosphere with the music and beersteins! Never a Problem
My wife and I have a summer home near Peachland and we go to the Gasthaus for any special occasion. We have never been disappointed by the food or the service. The negative experience of some of these reviews puzzles me but I would chalk it up to a bad day.    [28 Aug 2003 19:37:57]

A lovely first time experience
My husband and I just came back from Peachland today. We had dinner at your restaurant on 2 separate evenings and found the food to be delicious and lots of it. The ambiance outside overlooking the lake was wonderful. We had never been to Peachland before, however we do travel every year to the Kelowna area. Due to the fire situation there this year we decided to stay in Peachland, and are glad we did. Thank you for two lovely evenings.
