horrible, slow service- okay food being new to Port Moody and a huge fan of mexican food I dragged 2 friends and my husband for dinner early on a Saturday night. The place was not very busy, however our server was very slow, drinks took forever and so did our food. While the food was good- the server was so bad that we will be thinking twice before returning. As we were about to leave (we had already paid) the server came back to tell us she forgot to charge for one dessert. She is useless. We gladly paid, but found the service to be horrible [24 Feb 2005 19:39:21]

Exellent food, great atmosphere, slow pace is the point My friends and I frequent Charlie's (or Carlos') Cafe weekly, commuting from Coquitlam and Burnaby to do so. Here's why: the food is excellent, the atmosphere is a fun riot of the colour, designs, and sounds of Mexico, and the people are great, especially the host, Charlie. The pace *is* slow - but that's the point, there's no whipping out some so-so food to shift you out of your seat for the next customer. Homemade salsa and sauces deserve better. You can stay all night - and sometimes we have, or nearly so, ordering another of Charlie's copious margaritas. The service always depends on the number of customers, and when Fridays are hopping with full back room of large parties (bookable in advance), the service does slow down. Just have some salsa & chips and enjoy your friends' company. Or come before 6 or on a Wednesday or Thursday, when it is usually less busy, and take the time to chat with Charlie as he stops by your table. This is anti-fast food, enjoy it. not so good burittos should be made with steak not hamburger. service is ok. atmosphere is well kind of like eating at the dump as most of the decor seems to have been salvaged from there. i will never understand how here a meal you can get for five bucks in socal is twenty. [28 Dec 2006 22:43:54]
