Excellent food and service We had a going away party for a colleague this summer that ended up being much larger than we had anticipated (50+ attended), but the BX staff just rolled with the punches and everything was under control throughout the evening.
I can imagine it was quite a challenge to serve a group our size on an already busy Friday night, but the service and food did not suffer. Understandably, it did take a little longer than usual for our food (15 minutes on average). The servers always remembered what we had ordered and even gave a few of us updates, when the kitchen got a little bogged down, to let us know we had not been forgotten. (This is not a given at all PG restaurants!)
The only (possible) problem I noticed during the evening was that the floor of the suite we were in (upstairs) seemed to flex quite a bit when people walked around. It made me wonder if we were pushing the capacity of this room beyond safety limits. I can't say I've encountered this before at another establishment.
Otherwise, though, everything was fantastic. Everyone commented that the food was excellent and well-priced. The BX definitely helped us give our friend a wonderful send-off. [11 Sep 2005 12:17:27]

Floor is fine... Thank you for your comments and just to address your concern about the floor upstairs in the BX. The floor upstairs is what you call a "floating" sub floor which is designed to do exactly what you had witnessed and that is to "flex"! So no worries, it is perfectly safe and the staff look forward to having more events like yours in the near future. [27 Sep 2005 13:40:44]

Staff, BX Neighbourhood Pub
Excellent Pub! I only have occasion to visit Prince George once a year, but when I do, stopping at the BX Pub is a "must". The overall ambience is excellent, the servers are very friendly, the variety of draft beer is fantastic and the food is second to none!!! [20 Jul 2006 13:24:35]

The Beef Needs a Low Fat Diet. I consider myself a beef dip connoisser, so I was very surprised to find that the restaurant advertising "the best baron of beef in town" would have the worst. This beef dip was not only served in an untimely fashion (leaving me to pick at the fries before heading back out to work) but it was without a doubt the fattiest sandwich I have ever eaten. I had a friend with me, and she was thouroughly disgusted by the pile of gristle I was accumulating on my plate. I attempted to remove the rubbery gristle from the meat (that was to be honest stacked very generously) but I did not have enough time. I actually called the chef out, who explained to me (and she appeared to be quite insulted by my query) that "this is how I MAKE these sandwiches" and refered me to the signage that embelished the outer wall. With that, I asked the waitress to box up my remaining fries (as I would be very hungry by the end of my work day) and I went on my way. Now, Im not certain if I came on a day when the dish was not up to par, but this would not seem to be the case as the chef was adamant that this was "how they are always done." At any rate, I have not returned in over 18 mos. [01 Aug 2006 20:04:47]

Poor Service, Shifting Policies. My girlfriend and I went to the BX Pub for their 15 cent wings on Monday night (This particular night was January 22, 2007).
We have made regular visits to the BX for the wings which we quite enjoy. The 22nd was different however. We were not able to visit the BX due to the holidays and on this visit there were a few new faces on the staff, including our server. This new server was very unfriendly and seemed to show no concern for our enjoyment. Standard service is nothing too notable for review, yet I noticed at one point when she came to the table she hardly raised her hand up from inspecting her nails to address us.
During all of our numerous previous visits we order a large serving of wings and take the remainder to go. We were informed as we asked for our bill that they no longer served take-away containers for their wing plates. This policy makes no sense at all for my girlfriend and I. The BX Pub is, effectively, telling us that we cannot have all of the food we have paid them for.
We paid the server and she pratically threw the receipt toward my girlfriend and was all-together unkind. We typically have come to expect wonderful service from the BX but tonight we received service so poor that we believe that we will not return.
We believe that service should be friendly and that we should be allowed to take the food that we paid for. The BX failed on both counts on this night. [23 Jan 2007 02:04:55]
