Great food Better than all the chinese food restaurants in Vernon, lots of food and great quality! [10 Oct 2006 00:36:15]

Best in Quesnel The Gold Dust seems to import good cooks from Hong Kong but they soon get discouraged. The Canadian Chinese food is standard fare. We ordered in a few days ago and it was okay except the shrimp was 90% greasy batter and quite inedible. Still, lots of people seem to like it.
The specialty dishes are another thing. The cooks eventually start toning down the Chinese spices (so sad) but the quality is remains good. We had ginger beef last week and it was delicious.
It's very hard to get a vegetable dish except for the standard chop suey. According to the waitress, the cooks flatly refuse to alter anything. For example, undercooked broccoli gives me gas so I asked for a bit more carrot and onion in my wonton soup. Not a chance.
In all, a decent place. Overpriced and the service is pretty bad (I asked for chili oil and was offered little packets of hot sauce) but what the heck. Reasonably good food and that's we've come for. [27 Jan 2007 19:32:38]
