Unimpressive, Overall Overall, I was very unimpressed with this restaurant. Although our server was pleasant, the service was very slow; the wait was made all the more unpleasant by the cramped seating and high noise level. Three people at my table had requested that the rice that came with our meals be replaced with extra vegetables.
When the meals (finally) arrived, indeed there was no rice. However, there were also no extra vegetables. I had a tuna dish, and the fish was very good. The vegetables were decent, although already cool by the time the plate arrived at the table. Everyone at my table who ordered the vegetables agreed.
Overall, the food was decent, but certainly not outstanding. For the price of the dinner, we expected better food and better service; we were not even offered refills on the coffee. [02 Sep 2003 02:06:10]

Busy and Excellent I went to the restaurant with my wife and in-laws for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant was recommended to me by two different couples that live in our neighbourhood. It was very busy and even with a reservation we did have to wait for a table. We only waited 15 minutes and were well taken care of while we waited.
Unlike the previous reviewer, everyone at our table was amazed at quality of the food as well as the reasonable quickness that it came to the table. I had the duck breast salad and the beef tenderloin special and both were outstanding.
I've had many meals in fancy restaurants in Vancouver that are more expensive and don't provide the quality that we got at Beecher Street. My wife and mother in-law had the seabass and both raved about it while my father in-law was equally pleased with his rack of lamb. The only thing I would change is to make my reservation for 8:00 or 8:30 instead of 7:00 as it does get quite loud during the heat of the rush. The servers were fun and we enjoyed our evening immensely. [26 Nov 2004 18:14:38]

Wonderful I've been there 3 times: 2 for dinner and one for lunch, and I plan to go for lunch again very soon.
Yes, it's crowded and yes it can get a bit noisy, but it's part of the ambiance. Every time I've gone I've had a table in front of one of the many french windows. It's very a charming setting.
I've had the warm seafood salad, which I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I've also had the salmon which was as fabulous as it's presentation. For an appetizer I enjoyed prawns.
Our server gave us time to enjoy our conversations, peruse the menu and savour our meal. When I go out for dinner I look at it as an experience, not just eating a meal. I like to take my time and relax. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant. [13 Jun 2006 13:55:21]
