Best Indian Cuisine in BC
I have travelled far and wide all over BC and this family run upscale restaurant had first class indian cuisine...the most fabulous fresh dishes from around Haryana. I recommend a trip to Terrace to all food critics in Canada.    [30 Sep 2005 13:54:25]

Absolutely the Best Indian Food I've eaten.
The food is amazing, and well worth the wait. This is gourmet Indian "slow food" cooked from scratch, so come when you're not in a hurry. Order the pakora appy while you relax with a glass of wine or beer. Everything on the menu is superb.    [09 Apr 2007 01:37:01]

Learn some Customer Service
Yes the food here is fabulous, but I am getting pretty tired of the absolutely horrendous service at this restaurant.

I made reservations and pre-ordered our appies and food because I know that it takes close to 2 hours here before you get your entrees.. and you're lucky if you get it at the same time as the rest of your table. The retort at my pre-order was a very rude "that doesn't mean you will get your food any faster, we don't start making it now".
When we arrived right on time for our reservation, we were seated and not asked if we would like anything to drink, but given a pitcher of water. We sat and waited for our food for an hour.. were the last to eat in the restaurant and never once did our server come to the table to ask us if we neeeded anything, or to let us know that they were even cooking our dinner.

The service is unacceptable. After this visit we decided never to eat here again, and only order take-out.
The next time I called for take out, I was told that it would take 2.5 hours before it was ready!!!! How ridiculous.

Great Food, BAD Service
Customer service is terrible. Long waits and no answering machine when they are not open to take reservations. Just try to get through before 4:30 when they open the doors. They don't even start cooking until then. So you know your going to have to wait an hour or more for food.

By Far the Best Indian Cuisine in all of BC
Best Indian food in all of BC. I know there are many complaints about the service and the amount of time it takes but let me break it to you this way. The owners are some of the hardest working individuals you will ever meet and are very generous and outstanding citizens. They both (the father has finally retired) have full-time jobs and start work at the restaurant (and the attached hotel) after 8 hours of their regular jobs and they usually finish the restaurant work well into midnight which equals a minimum of 16 hours of work a day, so can you blame them for a bit of bad service for the best Indian food you will ever taste? In order to survive in this struggling economy the entire family works regular jobs and have barely raised the prices of their gourmet 5 star style menu items, for some time. They have made sure this gourmet menu is still accessible to those who enjoy Indian cuisine. Food like this, with great customer service could cost you $30+ anywhere else in the world and you get it for a mere $12.00 - $16.00??? So the customer service will lack a bit unless you are prepared to pay a lot for your meal; and, I suggest everyone embrace the aura of the place and the people. We need to acknowledge that a place like Terrace should feel lucky to have a place like this. If you are looking for fast buffet style Indian cuisine that’s made a week in advance then I recommend going to the Hot House and paying for their menu items, which end up being smaller portions for a ridiculous amount. As far as cleanliness at Harayna’s...the owner is a bleach freak! Every night every corner of the kitchen and restaurant is bleached squeaky clean.    [10 May 2009 19:08:08]
