Wish we weren't 2000 miles (or so) away! We dined at the Matterson House on a recent visit to Ucluelet and I would have to say that it is one of the best restaurants I have eaten at. We had one lunch and dinner two different nights and all was perfection. The server was excellent, the wine great and the food beyond all expectations (the vegetables alone are worthwhile) when you consider you're on the edge of the world in a little town in a little tiny house....!! If you find yourself in Ucluelet (and you better hope you do...it's beautiful) be sure to eat at the Matterson House. Don't waste your time and money going to the fancy, far more expensive places up the road in Tofino. [29 Jan 2005 18:03:57]

We love the Matterson House We live on Vancouver Island and try to go to the Matterson House every time we visit Ucluelet.
It is one of the restaurants I have ever had the pleasure of eating at.
Yhe food is excellent and the price is unbelievebly reasonable. We have small children and have a great time with the whole family! [12 Jul 2005 12:50:46]

Crackers with soup WE love your restaurant and have been there many times. Having had lunch there on the weekend I noticed once again that we were given crackers with our soup. There isn't a dish that we haven't loved but the addition of crackers with the soup somehow doesn't fit the fare or the ambience. To me it degrades the dish it is served with. The music was a little loud at times while we were eating. [08 Nov 2005 12:33:12]

My Most Favourite Restaurant in Ucluelet. This wonderful gem in Ucluelet is the best in ambiance, service and of course food. Jennifer, the part owner, with her husband, is the most genial hostess you could ever find.
A visit to Ucluelet should ALWAYS include at least one dinner at the Matterson House. [07 Feb 2006 22:40:51]

A bit uneven Well. We went twice during our visit to Ucluelet. We've had some excellent things to eat here, but we've also had a few things that weren't so good.
On our first visit, the service was ok. The second time it was absolutely incompetent - I think the waitress really had no idea of how to be a good waitress. So, hmm.
The Matterson House is centrally located, and therefore convenient. Would we try it again? I'm not sure about that. [13 Jun 2006 22:32:47]
