Rockstars Gid It!
Pictures everywhere of rock stars who love being "real poeople" at this place; and now I know why.

Best seafood ever, cooler martinis than downtown, the hottest, non-stuckup, non-bimbo ladies to inflict their wit on me in at least three years. Damn ... it's real.
Real good that is.    [25 Apr 2003 14:18:22]

Charlie Don't Feature
The decor was interesting and pleasant.

I swatted two flies while waiting to be served after guests who arrived after us. Our starters, the Clam Chowder and Spinach salad were good. Considering the egg in the salad consisted of only two pieces of white. My main course, the Cajun fish, was dry and very over done with no taste at all.

The bill was handed to us before being allowed to order the dessert which consisted of Cheese cake and Apple Crumble, these were decent. We had to remind the waitress that coffee needed spoons to stir. This was our first and will be our last visit to Charlie Don't Surf.    [02 Jan 2004 14:32:30]

Fun Ambience - Crappy Food
I have been going to Charlie's for years and it has always been to show my out of town guests the "beach" in White Rock. It is a very interesting spot, the service is generally good, but the menu and food is second rate.    [05 Feb 2004 18:17:48]

Charlie don't know how to answer a phone
i have been here like 3 times...1st time was good ...second was good third time it was down. we had to find ourselves a table outside ...cuz nobody seemed to notice we were looking for a table.

and now on Valentine's day i called to make a reservation. i call and after i wait on the phone 5 min they hang up on me. After that i call and some one else picks up, a guy this time. When i say some one has just hung up the phone on me he does not even apologize for it! Anyway...bottom line BETTER CLIENT SERVICE! and get some charisma! or some talking skills something some one who can answer the damn phone    [14 Feb 2004 19:48:18]

Just Can't Get Enough
Funky, eclectic, yet cozy decor. Spectacular view. Groovy music. Menu includes "Zone" meals (that's The Zone, not Atkins, and Charlie understands the difference). I recently discovered this restaurant, and I've already been back three times. It's just a really pleasant place to spend an evening. It has a really comfy, authentic feel--totally unlike all those hollow, cold, plastic places where people go to be seen.    [16 Jul 2004 19:34:12]

Food was great!
Lots of cool things to look at inside and out. Had the salmon, it was cooked to perfection. My husband had the steak, it was excellent, I'm always surprised if the steak's good and we're not at a steak house. Server was attentive, but not intrusive. Didn't enjoy the pounding bass from the club next door. Oh, and they ran out of NY cheesecake    [20 Jul 2004 21:54:24]

too funky for words
The food was really good. Everything prepared just right, salmon juicy but not overcooked, asparagus "al dente" and full of flavor. It seems that every item was cooked separately just for me, but the crowning glory was the, I assume, Maitre D', Alex our server, it was like dinner theatre. He told me they sell ambiance, a place to be, everything else is icing! PS I noticed/had pointed out that local rock stars were quietly and unobtrusivly dining at the same time as me, but I was made to feel I was the "Rock Star". I'm coming back for our 9th anniversary, and new years, and birthday , etc.    [25 Nov 2004 02:02:12]

Great beach view
The service always doesn't impress us, had to wait a while to be noticed by our server; I don't even think she knew we were there. Probably too busy adjusting herself.... a young girl server yet to grow up and have some class. Decor of Charlies is fabulous enjoy the music and view. The food take it or leave it. Menu is nothing how it was years ago had a lot more to chose from. We will still come here regardless of the inconsistencies.    [08 Mar 2005 18:27:00]

Love THe Beach View.
Coming to Charlie Don't Surf is enjoyable, for the view and decor. Attention by the servers has not improved over the years, menu has down sized not as good, only thing that keeps us going is the drinks on a hot summer day. Their kitchen crew is a sight for sore eyes, for a half open kitchen they should be more well groomed and the kitchen music should not be overwhelming the bar music. But it is enjoyable to go there on a hot summer day and enjoy the view with a cold drink and music.    [06 Jul 2005 21:49:16]

LOVE this place
First visit to Charlie's and it's a hit! The staff were all awesome, pleasant, non-intrusive, nothing is stuffy about Charlie's. The decor is awesome, the lighting is outstanding. Martinis wonderful, the Warm Goat Cheese appetizer excellent. I plan on returning again and again. No complaints, just raves! The hazelnut chocolate cheesecake for dessert was fantastic as well as the classic Charlie burger with excellent garlic sauce, the mushroom rotini was super. Anyone who didn't like Charlie Don't Surf: good, more room for me!    [17 Oct 2005 02:31:09]
