Needs Zest
The Peacock presents itself as a Chinese restaurant, but it has a nice combination of Canadian and Chinese items on the menu. The Chinese menu is a little sparse and they are utterly unwilling to do any substitutions (standard policy here from the owner/cook) or modify their dishes. Many standard oriental fare is not available.

As well their prices for Asian items are much higher than anywhere else in the surrounding area. Their prices for Canadian food is only a little higher than others in the immediate area.

The Canadian food is tasty and has decent portions.

The Asian cooking is very bland, but you do get a reasonable portion of the main dishes. The amount of free rice is a joke meaning you must buy more rice. For free you get the smallest styrofoam cup available filled with white rice. You cannot get chow mein as a side dish as it is only available as a full order with chicken or beef. Remember, no substitutions or changes. Half orders of almost everything else is available and Chow Mein is far more expensive then the other dishes.

Now if you want some flavour you can ask for your dish to be extra spicy. This means you get mildly acceptable flavour and a very slightly spicier dish. Don't worry, you won't cry to get the sweats with these dishes, no matter how much you plead for them to add more spice.

The service is moderately rude to downright nasty at times. With little quality competition in Athens, there's no need for service.

The dining room is small but not too bad. Think of any small asian restaurant you've ever been to. It has a poor layout that could be easily arranged to offer more seats and better privacy.

This is the only restaurant in Athens that serves beer and liqour, thus cementing it's local popularity.
