Excellent dining on the Credit River Fine dining in the country on the Credit River. The food is gourmet and the service is excellent too. This is a husband and wife owned and operated establishment. The Belfountain Inn is located in the small Hamlet of Belfountain, Ontario. The ambiance is warm and elegant. Sit by the fireplace or the full size windows and watch the river run by. Quaint & Superb Food! I brought my mother to the Belfountain Inn in early Nov when a small snow storm came in. They called to let us know they would still stay open if we were going to make the trip. It was well worth the drive! The ambiance food and service was a 5 star all around. From the wine to the curried dish to dessert it was picture perfect! It's so nice to get out of the city and enjoy the small town flavour that the Inn has to offer. The chef even came out to check on us to see if we were pleased. The waitress was so down to earth I could just go on and on about our evening. My mother was thrilled and I'm taking her back for Mother's Day in a few weeks! [21 Apr 2004 14:21:36]

Service Level was Terrible in October 2005. On Sunday October 16, 2005 we stopped at the restaurant to inquire about lunch. We were told there is about a 45 min wait. Fine. We came back after an hour. No available table yet. After another 45 min, a table finally becomes available. After we sat down, no one comes to take our order. Our water glasses were kept empty for the first half of the meal. As this was the only restaurant in the area, we decided to tough it out. Other customers were not as patient. One table walked out after trying unsuccessfully to get the server's attention. Another 2 groups left after waiting in the foyer for who knows how long. A group that was waiting at the bar was forgotten and their table was given to another group at the foyer. It was very disorganized.
As for the kitchen, even though there were about only 12 tables in the restaurant, food was slow to come out.
Unless the service problem is fixed, this restaurant is not worth visiting, despite nature's ambience around it. [19 Oct 2005 14:23:47]
