My wife and I had supper at Slackoni's shortly after it re-opened. My cannelloni was excellent, and the portion was more than adequate. My wife chose a shrimp dish, which was OK, but the told the waitress afterwards that the shrimp were just a little tough - no big problem though.
Well -the place fell apart; it was a bit like the 'dirty fork' scene from Monty Python. The chef appeared to apologize, and said he had tried them himself, and they were not up to the standard he expected. There were profuse apologies all round, and they didn't charge us for my wife's meal. We left, leaving guilty for complaining at all.
On a second visit, we took two guest for lunch. This time, everything was perfect, and the portions were still huge - more than enough for the two visitors in their twenties, let alone us old folks []

Not real Italian food We waited more than a half hour in an empty restaurant.
Finally this guy comes out with our food. I exclaimed to him that it was a long time, he ignores me by asking whom the rigatoni is for (they couldn't even their act together to give the dishes right, we were the only two people at the table).
I repeat my complaint of its lateness, and he starts making excuses that our waitress is busy cashing out a big party inside.
Waitress finally makes an appearance. I complain that my rigatoni is cold. It is waaaay too salty, sauce liquidy and watery, might as well have been Ragu. My date's linguine was equally smothered in salt and had large quantities of dirt in it from the mushrooms (literally every bite you're eating a ball of dirt).
The waitress defensively says that this is a gritty dish. No charge for my date's meal. There should have been no charge for anything but the drinks.
We walk out of there never to step back again. [20 Oct 2007 13:54:22]

The place to go in the Valley if you want to impress... I was fortunate enough to choose Slackoni's on a recommendation from a friend for a business dinner. The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. Normally I would have insisted on a restaurant in Ottawa that I had frequented to be sure of the meal but am very pleased that I decided to try this local restaurant. I have been several times since and the quality has never wavered from my first experience. I congratulate the owner and the chef on an excellent experience. You can count on my business for years to come. [17 Dec 2007 18:43:53]

I've been to Slackoni's twice now, and I really like it! The food was excellent, service was good, and atmosphere was pleasant. However, the place always seemed kind of empty... Well, I'd go back. I'd like to enjoy my dinner on the patio next time. [13 Feb 2008 19:48:16]

Good food... We have been twice over the year for lunch on the patio and always have been impressed with the food and portion size. The location is ideal as the sound of water gives a tranquility to the space....will be back again.. [23 Jun 2008 09:33:04]

Very Disappointing I had lunch at Slackoni's recently with two friends. We all had the penne pasta dish with cheese and spinach sauce. Well, I found the sauce very glutinous and tastless; in fact, Kraft dinner would have been preferable to this sticky mess. There were tiny shreds of spinach in the sauce but not enough to be mentioned in the menu description. No bread of any kind accompanied the meal. [25 Nov 2008 18:09:11]
