Disappointing Overflowing bucket of nicotine stained water and cigarette butts greets us at the door. No person greets us inside for several moments. No sign directing us to wait to be seated, or to take a seat is seen. Dim, dark panelled interior with open-truss, dark ceiling. Several light bulbs out. Local artist prints (decent quality) with sale prices on walls. Friendly, familiar waitress seats us. Menus are vinyl covered, sticky & stains obscure some menu items. Formica tabled booth is clean, with cloth napkin & clean flatware. Hanging light fixture over booth shows grimy cloth streaks & dust. No drinking water is offered. Drink order is requested before menu is opened. Brief, shallow wine list is at back of menu. Server recounting dinner specials ends with "If you're interested in any of these, I'll check and see if there's any left"...!!?? Menu is not fully reviewed before our order is requested. Service is rushed, luncheon-diner like. Appetizer is oily, from frozen. Dinner is hot, but food is salty, in general, and poorly presented. Rice is dried out, pasta is under-done (not yet al-dente). Steak is not done to order (ie: done-to-order not offered). Shrimp is over-done, but not quite tough. Salmon is good, with fresh mango salsa which is also good. Plates are slid away from us before finished with a late "...are you finished...". No dessert menu was seen or offered. [03 Oct 2005 14:25:54]
