I've eaten here on several different occasions and have found the food to be a mixed bag, so to speak.
The Lunch, Dinner, and Bar-food menus fare much better. Although none are going to send your tastebuds on a roller-coaster ride of flavour sensations, they are tasty and varied enough to whet most of your culinary expectations.
Their burgers are quite good and most of the bar-food is above what you'd expect from a typical bar. I would also recommend the bruscetta, although I suggest wearing a bib if you like to tear into the stuff like I do.
The best feature of The Cottage would have to be the bar itself. While not a marvel of architecture, the bar features ample seating and easily the largest patio in town. Spilling out the back of the building, the patio extends out over the Muskoka River and gives patrons an excellent view of Huntsville's harbour and picturesque downtown core. Nighttime lighting can be a little lax, but that's not always a bad thing, am I right?
On top of an excellent view, the Cottage could also boast about it's excellent service. Wait staff are friendly and courteous, food is delivered within a decent amount of time, and very seldom will you be forgotten or ignored. [03 Nov 2006 15:58:33]
