It was our first visit to this location of East Side Mario's in Orillia and we found it disappointing to see that there are American and Italian flags in the restaruant. Although it is understood that the food signifies the Italian flag and the franchise signifies the American flag, the restaurant is located in Canada and should also have a Canadian flag. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming. The service was extremely bad. Our waiter came over right away and asked if we wanted beverages. He saw that we already had them from the waiting area at the bar where we sat until a table was ready. He then messed up really bad from there. When he took our orders we explained that we didn't like parmesan. We then placed our orders for lasagna and veal and garlic bread with cheese for dinner. He explained that the parmasen is an option in that he would grate onto our dinner plates once served. He brought us our salad after a long wait and then proceeded to grate the parmasen onto the salad before we stopped him. We hadn't barely started eating our salad and our dinners were brought over. We didn't get our garlic bread with cheese. We asked for a refill of coffee (wasn't offered) and it was about ten minutes later he happened to walk by our table, looked at us, then said, you wanted something.... we then reminded him that we wanted the refill for the coffee. We also reminded him that we never were served our garlic bread. He apologized and we said to let it go as we were now done our meal. We asked for a refill of salad. We never got it. He brought the coffee pot over and didn't bring any cream or milk. Then when we asked for our bill, we double checked to be sure that we weren't charged for the garlic bread, we weren't, but, we were shocked to see that our bill was for $62.00. Aparently he mistakenly put the table behind us food on our bill. We did not tip! [16 Oct 2005 22:06:05]
