A Good Place for American Lunch.
Restaurant American style (sandwich club, sea foods, hamburger, smoked meat, some pastas...) Good price with a great ambiance. Great place to watch sports games in televison. Beer is not to expensive.    [16 Jul 2004 13:12:11]

coupon heaven
Very impressed by the staff, all really friendly, smiling, happy. Using a coupon giving $10 off the total (for 2) is always fun. Ample portions, tastes great. Caters to families (high chair, crayons, etc).    [23 Aug 2004 11:12:46]

Dorval
This is the greatest place in Montreal. Excellent food, top of the line service, the prices were reasonable and it was so much fun. The feeling when you walk in is great, porbably because the restaurant is so great!    [31 Oct 2004 10:20:20]

Brossard-large portions good pricing
I've been going to this Barbie's for around 7 years and I always get similar dishes. Over the years, the food prices have risen there maybe around a dollar or 2 per plate, but the portions are large and you leave feeling satisfied. I always get the Filet the Sole with rice, ceasar salad and Monte Carlo potato. It costs around 12$ a place and everything I mentioned is included.
Once you're done with your main dish, you may feel so full but your mouth keeps wanting more. One of the best desserts is the dark, thick, rich chocolate cake called "suicide". It's so large a piece, for around 4$ that you literally want to kill yourself. Hard to finish it all and definately good to share.
Don't fuss, you can always take it home.

When I first went there, the atmosphere resembled that of a sports bar, many screens, loud music, sort of an old school vibe as well. They had brick walls, license plates hung all over, a big juke box and vintage bath tub filled with peanuts.
It was definately a fun and youthful atmosphere although within the past couple years, Barbies has had many renovations. One of the first things I noticed was the change of lighting. Everything became dim and more classical.
They still have some tv screens and they kept the juke box but the restaurant has settled down. It is a calmer, dimmer decor, similar to St-Hubert or Scores.

This was a disappointement for me but I keep going back because of their coupons, good pricing and food portions.
Locals often receive coupons entitling you to buy a dish and get the 2nd one "free" (as long as it's 10$ or less). Otherwise, you just pay the extra.
Briefly, that means 2 people can dine for around 15$ or less if you pick moderatly priced dishes.
Lunch time deals also have buy one, get 2nd dish half off.

I have never had problems with the service, when you arrive, they serve you a basket of popcorn and your drinks always come quick. It's around a 15 to 20 minute wait, nothing to get impatient about.

Overall great experience, family friendly and there's something there for everyone.    [22 Jul 2007 13:43:49]
