Don't Pass This One By!
Despite this restaurant's location near the Bronze Age Tanning Salon, it is no pizza joint. This is a class act of Italian cuisine, with high European-quality service. If the lengthy menu doesn't have what you want, you can ask for something else, and they'll make it for you. Our party had a duo of ravioli with two different sauces to start, and then a beautifully simple salad with fresh-tasting olive oil. The entrees included a Dover sole that was sizeable and superbly cooked, a lovely lemon veal, and a fabulous shrimp Gambaretto. The grissini appear to be homemade, and the bread basket contains garlic toast and rolls. We had come for the Crepes Suzettes, which were made appropriately at the table and were better than the ones I have had in Paris. Oh yes, our waiter was the owner. He likes to keep his hand in, and it turned dinner into a dining event. The ratings for Food, Service, and Ambiance are not exactly representative of our experience, but close enough.    [30 Apr 2003 09:29:53]

Fine Italian dining on the south shore. Villa Massimo impresses by understanding that the essence on Italian food is in the quality of the ingredients, not the quantity of marinara sauce that can be heaped upon a bowl of pasta. The simple, but beautiful buffalo mozzeralla and tomato salad, or prociutto and melon are a great way to start. Tortellini en brodo is also a treat. The table d'hote changes constantly, but seems to always have a selection of pasta, game, fish and fowl that will take you off the beaten path of most Italian eateries. The wine list has a decent number of affordable choices, but also holds a few real treats if the pocketbook (or expense account) permits. Service is knowledgeable and professional, just the way it should be. The "wine cellar" (I don't remember what they call the room) seats about 28 and makes a great spot for special occasions.    [03 Jan 2005 18:56:59]

Magnifico Massimo!
The Osso Bucco is absolutely incredible (after eating that dish, you can die). Everything I tried is delicious.

Service is excellent and waiters are very kind.

Very clean place and the Royal Room is impressive. Exceptionnal selection of wines.    [09 Mar 2005 07:46:40]
