Great Food Although it is out of the way, it is a great place to have fine dining. Seating is limited so alway have a reservation. Be prepared to have a 3-4 hr meal as everything is prepared fresh. The food is South American/Chilean style. My favourite is the butternut squash soup and the figs in phyllo( I can't remember the fancy name for it). I have moved from the area several years ago but my husband and I often think about making the long trip back just to eat there. [28 Apr 2003 19:28:15]

Amazing Atmosphere The Hole In The Wall Restaurant is one of the missing links to the worlds dining experience. I once heard some one refer to the hole in the wall as a place that you would never forget and I belive that. It has it all, great food great service and even better people. I recomend that every one I meet go eat there. [18 Feb 2004 20:12:30]

Absolutely Outstanding It is worth the drive out to the Shields townsite for this gem of a restaurant. It is situated in a former Texaco gas station, but the sign is the only reminder of its former life. The tastefully decorated interior is done up like a Chilean villa. The service was very friendly and courteous. The food is star attraction, though. Nothing is prepared in advance, so it does take 3-4 hours for a meal. However it is worth every minute of the wait, as it is as close to perfection as you can hope to get. It is quite expensive but you certainly get what you pay for. If you want a memorable meal for a special occasion, nothing can surpass The Hole in the Wall. [04 Oct 2005 13:18:07]

Absolutely Outstanding This Chilean-themed restaurant is located in a former Texaco gas station in the town of Shields, south of Saskatoon near the town of Dundurn. Opened in 1982, its reputation for fine dining has gained legendary status. It's out of the way, expensive, and a typical meal takes a long time but it is absolutely worth it. The ingredients are all fresh, and nothing is prepared in advance. The quality of the food is second to none. Service is attentive and friendly, yet not intrusive. The restaurant seats only 70 people so reservations are a must. [17 Sep 2006 02:47:28]
