Description

Indian, Thai and Malaysian food restaurant.

Good atmosphere, though busy on certain days, and at certain times. Staff speaks mostly Mandarin, but menu is in English as well, and pictures on menu are most helpful for non-Chinese patrons.

One of Guangzhou's Best Restaurants
A very good restaurant. I enjoyed the meal very much, and the service was excellent. Having a menu in English, with pictures of the items, was very helpful in allowing one to try dishes that you might not normally order, if you were unfamiliar with them.    [27 Feb 2000 21:58:50]

The Banana Leaf is great! Whenever I am in Guangzhou I eat here. Even if I am there for a week I eat there every day. I usually order the lobster cooked different ways and each time it is wonderful. I like the new location across the street from the Garden Hotel.

The manager, Peter, is very nice and helpful.    [19 Mar 2002 21:44:21]

Lobster
The Lobster was absolutely awful! It had a very bitter taste and my friend and I could not eat it. After complaining for a long time (in Chinese - my friend is a local) we were given a measly 10% discount! In my own country I would have walked out without paying.    [24 May 2005 00:14:50]
