There must be another Paprika Contrary to the many claims made on the internet and in the guide books, I very much doubt that even the crummiest of Egyptian soap-stars would be seen dead in this disaster of a restaurant, let alone Omar Sharif.
The "special menu" (with a suitably special price, of course) consisted of mediocre reheated food, undercooked rice, barely thawed vegetables and stale bread. The "Egyptian Dessert" turned out to be two scoops of cheap and bland ice cream. However, our waiter was proud to inform us that the salad was "very clean". I suppose I will find out in the next few hours whether this was true or not.
I cannot help but feel that either the place is under new (and terrible) management or that everything written about this place is based on a single, well-placed lie that has propagated successfully around the world. Either way I suggest that you avoid this place at all cost, it is terrible.
Incidentally, this is the only Paprika restaurant on Corniche El-Nil. I checked. [08 Dec 2007 16:34:02]
