Top: Egypt:
Sharm El Sheikh
Description
Tam Tam allows tourists to experience traditional Egyptian food in the atmosphere of a traditional Egyptian Cafe, but with a beautiful view over the beach promenade and the sea at of Naama Bay. True to its nature, it contains a "shisha corner" where visitors can enjoy a variety of flavorful and soothing tobaccos. Tam Tam belongs to the Ghazala Hotel, but draws guests from everywhere due to high quality and small prices.

Atmospheric I have returned to the Tam Tam in Sharm el Sheikh for the last 5 years. My most recent visit was only last week (June 7 2004). The menu is user friendly (in English) and offers a variety of Egyptian dishes, including lamb and chicken dishes as well as vegetarian. The Koshari is a comforting dish of macaroni and lentils in a tomato sauce with vegetables and crisped fried onions. There is also a range of Mezes and salads, including Toshari, spicy pickles as well as hummus, feta salad and tahini, all served with freshly baked flat bread. The salads can be enjoyed as a light snack in the day. The Tam is also great for evenings, and offers alcoholic beverages as well as the fruity non-alcoholic Ghazala cocktails. The layout of the restaurant must be seen. The first floor is open aired with beautiful fabrics forming a canopy, offering sea views. While the ground floor is formed of an 'L' shaped kitchen and a few tables. The entrance is stunning, with low sofas and cushions to perch on. As well as a few seated tables. The attraction of the ground floor is the amazing music offered by 'Ali and Ahmed' playing traditional Egyptian music on drums and lute. The music starts at 8 pm and the restaurant closes at 12pm. The downstairs also offers the option of shisha pipes to enjoy in the relaxing surroundings of cushions and music. Perhaps with a beer, Sakhara is refreshing or a strong Egyptian coffee served in small glasses. The Tam Tam really does have it all, apart from well presented food. It has sea views and atmospherics created by the layout and music but most importantly by the people who work there. The waiters are courteous and friendly and really make you feel at home, there is an overall impression that the Tam Tam is an enjoyable place to work. I would highly recommend anyone to visit the Tam Tam it's location in Naama Bay is central on the parade and the prices are extremely reasonable. [15 Jun 2004 11:17:31]

Excellent local food The joy in visiting another country is to come close to the local people and their food. The hotel restaurants do not often offer local food, and that´s a pity, I think.
Sharm el Sheikh, Naema Bay, offers at least three restaurants with excellent Egyptian food, Tam Tam is one of them. I am crazy about the starters, the mezzes and the warm bread with it. I´ve been to Egypt several times now, but the first time in Sharm el Sheikh this year, and I´ve had all my wishes of Middle East food fullfilled here.
The entertainment at Tam Tam was fun and the Anura-dancer (don´t know how to spell that) was gorgeous, beautiful. [23 Mar 2007 07:02:09]
