Not Exactly Mexican, But Good In A Pinch As a California expat living in Hamburg, I sometimes get desperate for Mexican food. While Sausalito is usually my first choice, Bolero comes in handy as an alternative. Don't expect cheddar cheese, pinto or black beans, pico de gallo, real guacamole, or tasty homemade tortilla chips. You can, though, get fajitas with some sort of white cheese, kidney beans, sliced cucumbers, and some interesting sauces to accompany. If you are vegetarian, then the gemuse fajitas are the way to go (avoid the gemuse enchiladas... gross!)
Ordering margaritas "on the rocks" is strictly at your own risk. Blended seems to be the only realistic choice.
If it is cold outside, recognize that patrons will be smoking up a storm INside.
All in all, it's a fun & energetic place, but don't go there just for the food. [10 Sep 2005 10:50:00]
