Good Pick
Very good restaurant compared to other Ayam Goreng. This is the best so far.    []

Ideal when eating in a group, try the coconut drink (es kelapa muda).    [29 Mar 2003 10:43:37]

Popular with Locals
When we were in the original restaurant in Jogja, my wife and I were the only Americans, but the place was crowded. After sampling the Ayam Goreng we understood why the locals eat there. It isn't necessarily the prices, although they are great. The chicken is as good as it gets.    [02 Jul 2003 12:20:26]

The restaurant's main manu is "Ayam Goreng" or Fried Chicken. The recipe originated from Yogyakarta and deserves to be ranked number one in all fried chicken chain restaurants. The fried chicken is well marinated and deep fryed (not as oily as KFC!), and other menu items are available. The food is a traditional menu from Central Java. Drinks also excellent here, you can find most of the traditional street food but certainly cleaner here. When you enter the restaurant you can just feel the change of atmosphere, the restaurant dim light and the Javanese music background send you back to Jogya in an instant. Cost of food is not too expensive. 1 whole chicken will cost you about Rp. 30.000 or about US$3.00. Total bill for 2 is about Rp. 80.000 or about US$8.00 including drinks, tax and gratuity. Not bad at all!    [18 Jul 2003 17:59:10]

Fingerlickin' good
I've been to Jakarta 6 times now, but last time (Dec 2006) was the first time I went to Suharti's and I regret not having been there before. Althought the fried chicken you can buy on the streets at night are also great, the Suharti one has very tasty topping. If you are in Indonesia, you really have to try this. Price of a whole chicken has gone up to Rp 49.000 (=US$5.00), which is still cheap when compared to Holland.    [30 Dec 2006 13:27:44]
