Description
Teach Barnai is a family run restaurant which is nestled away in the little village of Kilcar in south-west Donegal (click here to find out where Kilcar is located). It boasts a gourmet menu at affordable prices which changes regularly, has a european flavour with hints of the orient and a leaning towards French style cuisine.
The restaurant itself consists of a lifetime's collection of old furniture and ornaments. It has a very rustic feel to the downstairs bar and reception, where you will find a lovely old red brick fireplace set off with brass carriage lamps.
Upstairs consists of 2 dining areas on a split level. The "Loft" can cater for small parties while the main dining area is ideal for any occasion, and the old timber floor is great for dancing!

Fantastic My wife and I had dinner here in 2000. It was a complete surprise to find this place in the middle of nowhere. This is one of the BEST restaurants we've eaten in. (We dine at quite a few nicer places in and around Washington, DC). The service, the atmosphere, and, of course, the food were outstanding. Michael Carr, the owner was wonderful. He spent alot of time with us at the bar before dinner, and we had a great conversation. I would highly recommend going here, even if it's out of the way. [24 Apr 2005 17:22:59]
