Description
The Umberto restaurant and pizzeria is best known for its seafood and pizza. It offers 300 different wines, and live music almost every night. Vegetarian and gluten-free meals are also available. Ermelinda and Umberto di Porzio opened the restaurant in 1916, and today their four grandchildren - Linda, Lorella, Roberta and Massimo - continue the family tradition.

Historical Restaurant with good quality I went to dinner in this restaurant last January. I think it's one of the best of Naples, expecially because the owner takes care of the customers, which is not very common in Naples! The food was OK, but the preparation could be better. I learned that in Naples restaurants you have to focus on the taste of the food, not on its preparation! So if you are around Naples don't miss it. Take a look at his incredible web site. Great Neopolitan Eatery We had a friend's reunion last july at Ristorante Umberto. One of the main reasons we ate there was that my wife has a wheat intolerance. The restaurant has an extensive selection of wheat-free dishes: they were fantastic, and my wife was in seventh heaven. The pasta was fabulous. The roasted chicken juicy, and the veal was heavenly. We also had some pizzas -- excellent. The waiters were all so friendly and extremely helpful to my wife. They paid such attention to detail with regards to her wheat intolerance. They took much time to create a four course meal which she devoured. The service in general was fabulous, and the restaurant itself was really great looking. It didn't have the typical tourist trap look. It felt like the real thing. [30 Mar 2006 16:01:45]
