Tourists are treated second-class Obviously tourists are considered to be welcome objects for cheating: They don't offer you any prima piatti, whereas regular Italians at the table next to you are offered the whole range of starters. In our case it seemed that they simply wanted to avoid us choosing a starter only, so consequently we were immediately offered the expensive main course (fish), which was served without any side dishes, plain style. The bill was OK as far as starters, wine, coffee and cake are concerned. However, 44,00 EUR for 2 average pieces of fish without any conceivable efforts taken to transform them into more than just roasted fish is simply too much. We were not shown a menu - people next to us were. The waiter denied that we could have anything but fish - in fact the (Italian) couple next to us could have some pasta with frutti di mare. The whole thing smacks of exploitation - don't go there if you don't speak Italian fluently or do at least try to avoid the fish-trap [05 Aug 2006 19:01:39]
