One of the very best
This is fine dining at its best. A wine list to die for at reasonable prices. If you don't know wine, let the sommelier (he is one of the 3 brother owners) guide you: he picked killer stuff for modest prices. Compares favorably with any restaurant in the world.    [20 Apr 2003 17:01:51]

We were so dissapointed by Il Convivio. From the pretentious interior, smelling of damp, the glass discs on each table - made into various animals, the glass lady ornaments, to the very iffy Nouveau Cuisine which was boring and overpriced. Minute porions on big plates with lots of olive oil and balsamic drizzles. The bill was the highest we paid in Rome and the whole evening the worst. Walking home we both had to dash into a bar to use their loo due to the food having such a bad effect. The wine was monsterously inflated, a basic verdicchio being 30 euros. Tight on money?
Sally, if you are tight on money and believe that a good value meal means huge portions of industrially processed food and a several jugs of rough red, don't go to Troiani.
