Description

Osteria della Gallina Sversa literally translates as the 'Tavern of the Drunken Hen': it is located a short way from the road leading out of Calosso towards Moasca.

The restaurant has a homely atmosphere - the walls are covered floor to ceiling with photos of the proprietor's family - and it serves simple traditional Piedmontese fare using seasonal ingredients. The menu changes weekly.

Regular favourites are vitello tornato (veal with tuna sauce) and carpaccio (raw meat slices with lemon, olive oil and Parmesan cheese). In Autumn, braised veal with Barolo and many rabbit-based specialities are always available. Try in particular the tajarin (fresh noodles), tagliatelle and ravioli.
