Traditional fare, no surprises
Situated a short trip by car from Lucca, La Mora offers a welcome change from the tourist masses in town. The dining room is pleasantly designed to open up with large glass doors to a garden terrace. The night I visited, the doors were closed as it was raining. The air in the restaurant was rather warm, and many at my table admitted discomfort. The service was fine, though at the hottest moments the water bottles remained empty. The food was the big let down. The best was a pepper gelatin starter, the worst a fried plate of rabbit and duck with no sauce or flavor. An octopus sauce pasta was well-liked, as was the sea bass.    [03 Jun 2008 08:14:15]
