The best n'orleans food this side of the ocean Great atmosphere; you walk down those stairs and you are on Bourbon Street, New Orleans. Blues/southern tunes in the background, unforgettable shrimp, gumbo, blackened fish, fried catfish, jambalaya, soul chicken, mudballs & crab cakes; fantastic desserts - pecan pie, peach pie, bread pudding, apple crumble, banana fosters, etc... and a friendly owner chef make it a memorable evening ! Taste of Home Bourbon Street can hold its own against any of the big names in New Orleans. Was very surprised to find this standard of taste n flavours in Tokyo. Loud & friendly chef; the tunes, the food makes me want to go home. [19 Feb 2003 22:04:38]

Finger-licking great! What can I add to the previous commentators' entries? I can only confirm.
Also nice is that it's a small place, you get personal care (seats 22 at tables and maybe 4-5 more at the bar).
My U.S. colleague felt really at home and asked for a doggy-bag to take home what remained of his jambalaya (home = in Tokyo, not the U.S. ;-)
If the place is fully booked - which happens quite often - you can go and sit in the bar of the same owner across the street and get something to eat there too.
We celebrated New Year's Eve here. Man oh man oh man! Yummy! [22 Jul 2003 22:11:10]

This place is the Best! I think this has to be one of the best spots in all of Tokyo. The owner/chef, Sir Sohan, is a master of his profession and art. The food is excellent, atmospheren relaxing, and drinks will take you back to Mardi Gras!! Enjoy, and have a Hurricane for me. [14 Nov 2003 02:48:16]

Unbelievable! I have heard of Bourbon Street a number of times, but I simply could not believe all the good things I've heard (including the reviews above). In Roppongi? Not possible.
But a good friend took us (a group of 4) there last night. It started when we went down the stairs - what a nice smell that wafted up from the kitchen! When entering the restaurant, we were warmly welcomed by Sohan, the owner. Very nice atmosphere, without too much decoration. I have never tasted Cajun food before, but just reading the menu was a mouth-watering experience.
Sohan's guidance was extremely helpful, and we ordered three shared appetizers and two shared main dishes. What an experience eating these combinations! It's a whole new world, and there are not enough words describing these tastes!
To go there with a couple of good friends or family member guarantees a wonderful evening, which indeed we had! [01 Dec 2003 01:47:16]

An absolute must Incredibly good food in a basement? Largely unheard of in Tokyo but if you can find this restaurant, it'll be well worth your troubles.
Probably the best western food outside a hotel anywhere in Tokyo. Sohan steals the show. [13 May 2004 03:43:34]

I'm addicted to this place What shall I say? How can we describe taste? Every time I'm in Tokyo this is my first stop. Sohan was already doing a great job while he was managing Navacho, but Bourbon Street is a celebration for your senses, whatever you may pick from the menue. And he has also a reasonable priced wine selection. But in addition to all that, Sohan is not just managing a restaurant, he is a real host and gives you always a warm welcome. [02 Jul 2004 02:15:01]
