Description

This centrally located place, an Amman institution, is one of the city's real gems, presided over by the courtly Abu Ahmed himself. Set in a rambling stone bungalow, it offers garden dining in good weather and a large Arabic menu in which every dish is exquisitely prepared from the best ingredients-many traditional dishes, especially among the first courses, are virtually works of art here. The venerable Abu Ahmed, a proud patriarch with grandchildren educated at universities throughout the world, personally supervises the buying of meats and vegetables for his restaurant each day. There are fresh breads, and the standard array of appetizers and grilled main courses, all served with style by a courteous staff.
