Description
The 1957 Bistro is located at 22, Jalan 25/70A Desa Sri Hartamas, for those of you who are not too familiar with the area it is just around the corner from Bukit Kiara. These days however the mere mention of 1957 is enough for the majority of Kuala Lumpur's dinning and drinking patrons to know exactly where the location is.
Being the first restaurant (and first outlet for that matter), to open in Sri Hartamas 1957 has become somewhat of a house hold name for the inhabitants of Sri Hartamas, Bukit kiara and the adjacent area's, to put it simply ‘its reputation proceeds it'.
The theme ‘1957’ was chosen by the owner (Mr. Michael Tan). He chose this name to remind Malaysians to be proud of their country’s independence, solidarity, and instill a sense of nostalgia. Set within lush landscape gardens, decorative items adorn the walls dating back to the 1950’s, patrons enjoy a wide range of R&B, jazz and easy listening. Thursdays through Saturdays, local solo acts perform here with varying styles.
Pleasant ambience and great music aside, the bistro serves a great selection of mouth watering dishes, from Canadian jumbo oysters, imported meats and fish to Japanese entrée’s.
The bar offers competitive prices with its happy hour beer’s, a wide range of cocktails, mocktails, specialties of the month, and not to mention over 100 labels of premium vintage Australian, French, Chilean, and South African wines. Prices range from the affordable to the extravagant depending on the palette and vintage of the bottle. Cigars are also available with a number of top Cuban brands imported regularly.
The 1957 Bistro guarantees a fantastic dinning experience, great drinking location and superb music venue, with a theme like no other!.
