A personal favorite
Located within walking distance of Rotterdam Central Station, the American Cafe offers a nice mix. The restaurant is located above a bar and can be reached by stairs.

The first time I went there, I was in a party of two and we went for the tenderloin steak. I had cajun hot sauce on the side, and my dinner partner had cocktail sauce. Not that she'd touch it though, since the food is tasty enough as it is. The Creole rice on the side was an absolute winner and could finish any piece of meat.

During the dinner, the Maître kept a close eye on us, and whenever he felt we needed something he informed of our wishes. There was no need to signal a waiter, nor did they come across as pushy. The sole problem I had with this restaurant is that there is no smokefree area. Highly recommended.    [30 Apr 2003 06:59:19]
