pleasant surprise
A few friends and I were celebrating in "Folwark" 50 birthday of my mother. I was nicely surpriced by the warm ambiance and unique appearance of this place. Music in the background kept the enjoyable atmosphere- it wasn't too loud so that we could comunicate without difficulties, good sound and artists.

The decor reminds a bit some kind of hunting house, with antlers on the walls and colours. But all this decotarions make you feel comfortable and cosy.

We'd been given a separate room for special occasions, which made us feel like a VIPs. No one, except from service (which was very kind and quite) disturbed us, so that we could enjoy our company.

We were allowed to bring birthday cake which was served after main meal, and on the table there was a huge bunch of 50 roses -a gift from guests.

The starters and meals we ordered were served with fantasy. We were astonished with the look and taste of meals- everything was fresh, tasty and fulfilling. Most of the dishes were Polish cuisine but you could see traditional way mixed with modern style- and it worked.

Althoug the restaurant was supposed to open till midnight, we were allowed to stay longer (till 1am) and after that, the service ordered taxi to drive us home.
Everyone was pleasantly surprised by excellent organised meeting, professionalism and quallity of food.

The only thing that should be improved, is the way a wine is served. After choosing the bottle of wine the waiter was disappearing with our choice to come back with ready served wine in the glasses. Meanwhile the bottle should be open in front of customer to make sure that that's exactly the wine which was chosen and it is fresh. I don't doubt honesty of service, but good restaurant (and Folwark is certainly one of them) should include this detail in their service. All wines had the same price which was good in a way, because you can taste different wines without fear. But price of the whole bottle was counted as the amount of glasses which the bottle contains- if one glass of wine costs 7zł, then the price of a bottle containing 7 glasses of wine is 49zł. I reckon that if you take the whole bottle, you should pay less than if you order 7 glasses of wine. The price of 43zł should be fair enough. Besides the variety of wines might be bigger and include more sophisticated sorts of wines.

Apart from that,it was absolutely perfect evening. Bravo for chef and service.

The whole dinner for 6people cost me about 500zł which is less than 100pounds (January 2006),we had starters, main meals and alcohols and it was worth the price.    [15 Mar 2006 04:32:36]
