Lousy food at Siam Kitchen
My boyfriend and I went Siam Kitchen to celebrate his birthday. What a mistake we made in choosing to eat there. We ordered salted fish with bean sprouts, soft shell crab, tom yum with prawns, chicken wings, beef kuay tiao soup, ice lemon grass tea, ice milk tea. Out of all these dishes, everything tasted terrible, except the soft shell crab and chicken wings, which were barely passable. The salted fish with bean sprouts tasted terrible, so terrible that a veggie lover like me could not bare to take another bite. The salted fish tasted yucky, and the whole dish just tasted terrible. The tom yum tasted like it is cooked from tom yum cubes, and the prawns were not fresh. The beef kuay tiao soup just tasted bland, except we added lots of chilli to be able to taste something. The iced milk tea was the worst I have ever tasted. I wonder if the cook or management has ever tried the dishes themselves. If they haven't, they should, because this is the worst version of those dishes I have ever tasted. However, the servers were friendly and polite.    [28 Dec 2005 06:34:30]

The Food Is Not Bad
I do not agree with 'anonymous' above. I've been to Siam Kitchen at Causeway Point about five times in 2005 and I can say the food is not bad at all. Dishes I've tried are Tom Yum Seafood (good), Tom Yum Noodles (big serving), Beef Noodles (so-so), Mango Salad (very good), Pandan Chicken (so-so, but my partner loved it), a minced chicken dish (poor texture, average taste), the large fried fish (ok), Sambal Kangkong (too salty) and fried rice (average). Overall the dishes are quite OK for the price. The contents of the tom yum seem to get lesser at night so go earlier. Not the best but definitely not the worst.    [24 Jan 2006 00:41:43]

Acceptable
I'm a Thai food lover, and sad to say Singapore's Thai restaurants barely make it in providing the authentic taste of tum yum soup. Siam kitchen's tum yum soup, though not the best, is definitely better than lemongrass restaurants. try it and you'll find out the truth. Don't go for brands, go for taste.    [12 Jun 2006 14:21:56]
