Description

The cafe is laid with hand-made carpets, and its two halls are graced with specially-ordered furniture. The small tables of the Piano bar are illuminated by bronze lamps with sensuous ostrich-egg lampshades. China graced with the Le Grand Cafe logo, exclusive cutlery and glowing candles quietly underscore the high-class interior and simultaneously the unusual cosiness of the classic room.

Probably the best in Kiev
I have eaten at most well known places and I have to say that this place is probably the best in Kiev.

The best part of this place is the fact that it is expensive. This makes it very empty most of the time. My wife and I frequent this place every visit to Kiev because the food is great, the atmosphere is excellent(lack of clanking dishes, noisy children, hectic waiters, rushing people, etc etc), and the interior is nicely decorated.

I can honestly say that if intimacy, food and service is what you want, this is the place.

If you are in a party mood or want people around you, Xytorok is a better place.    [14 Jul 2004 01:21:00]

The most comfortable restaurant in the center
I have traveled to Kiev many times, and on each visit I always go again to The Grand Cafe. There is a quiet elegance in the atmosphere. The walls are covered in a deep maroon red fabric, and the lighting is soft and easy on the eye. There is a feeling that the design was done by a very creative person. For example, each table is lit with a personal lamp that is the most creative idea I have ever seen in any restaurant even in New York. Each table lamp is an ostrich egg standing on brass bird legs. As I have looked around the restaurant during dinner or late hour drinks, I see people touching the eggs while the conversations go on and on. Really very interesting.

The food is excellent and the service is very good. Yes… I said good service about a Ukrainian restaurant!    [04 Sep 2004 23:09:05]
